Architecture Inspired Typefaces: Chris Labrooy

London based graphic designer Chris Labrooy has designed a series of typefaces inspired by famous architects and their buildings. The series includes fonts based on Toyo Ito, Frank Ghery, Helvetica, the Bauhaus and others.

Toyo:

Letter forms inspired by Toyo ito’s impressive works. The combination of simple forms with inricate perforations is what excites me about his work. These letters are based on : TOD’s omotesando / Tower of winds / Taichung opera house / Mikimoto department store.

Frank:

Typography design based on the architecture of frank ghery. I picked out my favourite buildings as a basis for developing some expressive letter forms. Included are : Guggenheim Bilboa / Aerospace museum / Ghery house / experience music project / dancing house prague.

Helvetica:

Another contribution to the ever expanding helvetica image archive. The industrial architectural style with it’s rough cast concrete is a perfect fit for helvetica HQ.

Bauhaus:
